Expectations for Junior High Track

Practice is required for everyone, every scheduled day.  This means on time!

Practice will officially start at 3:55 p.m. on school days.

    1. 1st unexcused absence- will result in extra conditioning.
    2. 2nd unexcused absence- will result in extra conditioning and 1 meet suspension.
    3. 3rd unexcused absence- dismissal from team.

The following are unexcused absences:

      1. Detention
      2. Opportunity referrals
      3. Non school sponsored activities without prior approval
Rules
  1. No tobacco, alcohol, and drugs of any kind are to be used. School activity policy will be strictly enforced…
  2.  No one leaves the  track site without permission of the coaching staff.
  3. All athletes will display proper behavior at meets and practice. If an athlete can not act properly they will face disciplinary action.
  4. All persons involved with the track team will ride to and from the track meets with the team, unless special permission is granted through school policy..
  5.  Keep reasonable hours and eat a proper diet..
  6.  Maintain good grades.
  7.  Failure to report to an event you are scheduled to compete in on time will result in a one meet suspension. Pay attention to the public address announcer.
  8.  You will not be allowed to scratch an event unless you have been given permission by your head coach.  Failure to comply with this guideline will result in disciplinary action.
  9.  There are 3 excuses that will be accepted for missing a track meet. They include: (a conflict with another school activity such as FBLA, Band, etc..  illness, and academic ineligibility). Catching up on school work because of attendance at other school activities will not be accepted as an excuse for missing a track meet. School work is to be completed prior to attending other school activities according to the student handbook. Any other excuse for missing a track meet or practice must be approved by the head coach. Situations that may arise that are not covered in the handbook will be handled at the discretion.
There are a number of items that athletes are not to bring to track meets. The list includes but is not limited to the following: (grill, baseballs / softballs, bats, footballs, Frisbees, ball gloves,  boxing gloves, pocket knives, hunting knives, etc..). Any item that distracts and endangers the safety of athletes, coaches, and fans is prohibited. If you are unsure weather an item you want to take to a track meet is acceptable check with the head coach before boarding the team bus or van. Any violation will result in a one week suspension or more depending on the severity of the incident. Practice attendance will be required during the suspension period.
