With the parent
sponsors, they visited Fire Station #1, at 1801 Q Street. A tour
of the garage area, the fire engines, and the Firemen's living quarters
was fun and educational for all. Visit the Lincoln Fire Departments

When our Fireman tour
guide put on his Fire fighting gear, many questions were answered.
The tour guide reminds our students that if they are ever in a fire, a
person dressed like him, is a friend who wants to help them.

The next stop was the
Lincoln Police Station at 575 S. 10th. The tour included special
investigations units, the Police Chief's office, the briefing room and
many displays of the "LPD" as it has grown through the years. As the students
were leaving, they were given trading cards for LPD's 4 Canine Officers.

A stop at Antelope Park,
23rd & N to 33rd & Sheridan Blvd., was the perfect (and chilly)
setting for bag lunches and a few minutes of free time. After 2 tours,
the students were ready for some action! For more info on Lincoln
Parks see:

The final stop of the
day was to Lincoln's Main Post Office at 700 R Street. Due to recent
events, tours are not allowed on the main production floor. The local
sorting and delivery area, and one of the delivery trucks were investigated
by the students.
