Service to the school and community
The Elmwood-Murdock Chapter of FBLA provided various services to the school throughout the year. |

National Secretaries’ Day
On National Secretaries' Day, FBLA members recognized the secretarial profession. FBLA secretaries; Tycha Stander, high school secretary; Barb Miller, district treasurer; and Anita Zierott, financial secretary, were honored. |

Treasure Chest of Economic Resources
FBLA members created a series of economic lesson plans based on storybooks specifically designed for elementary students. Books were purchased, objectives were referenced to Social Studies Standards, and the resource was given to elementary teachers to use. |

Teacher Welcome Back
To recognize and welcome the teachers returning for the new school year, FBLA members treated them to ice cream bars on their first teacher in-service day. |

Bulletin Boards
FBLA members assisted the business teachers in making bulletin boards that encouraged students to join FBLA and promoted student involvement in the business field. |

Junior High Awards Night
FBLA members held a business competition for junior high students. Awards for this competition were given to students on Junior High Honors Night. |

Trophy Case
Since the trophy cases are displayed where visitors enter the building, it is important that they be attractive. FBLA members are in charge of dusting and cleaning them. |

Parent-Teacher Conferences
At Parent-Teacher Conferences held on October 4 and 5, and February 8 and 10, members set up refreshments for parents to enjoy while waiting to talk to the teachers. |

General Mills Box Tops
The Elmwood-Murdock School teamed up with General Mills to participate in a fundraiser. The $600 raised was used to help defray expenses associated with hosting the community banquet. |

FBLA Week
Scheduling activities for FBLA Week provided opportunities to develop leadership for the officers and members. The following activities were planned: posters promoting the week, I-SAFE assembly, parent Internet workshop, Safari Field Trip, Data Match sales, Valentine Post Office, March of Dimes bear sales, and Parent-Teacher Conference refreshments. |

Christmas and Valentine's Day Mailboxes
For Christmas and Valentine’s Day, mail- boxes were made for each class. Students placed their Valentines and Christmas cards in these boxes, and cards were delivered to the student body. |

Easter Egg Hunt
FBLA members organized the Elmwood Easter Egg Hunt on April 10, 2004. Over 100 children ages 3-10 participated in the event. |
|

Adopt-a-Highway
Elmwood-Murdock FBLA members adopted the five-mile segment of High-way 1 between Elmwood and Murdock. Trash was picked up in May and October of 2004. |
|

Perennial Garden in Park
FBLA members maintained the perennial garden that enhances the "Welcome to Elmwood Sign” in the city park. |

Mix it up at Lunch
Elmwood-Murdock’s first “Mix it up at Lunch,” hosted by FBLA, was held on December 17, 2004. Students who wished to participate in the activity chose a number from a bowl in the lunch line and sat at the seat with the corresponding number. This gave students an opportunity to socialize with those whom they normally would not. |
