Coaches Comments:
Senior fullback David Todd rushed for 89 yards on 26 carries scoring 2 touchdowns
while Kevin Zoz was 7/11 passing for 104 yards and rushed for 85 yards on 12
carries scoring 1 touchdown in the Knights 20-7 win over Weeping Water in a
rain / lightning delayed District V contest last Friday night in Weeping Water.
The game was delayed for over an hour after two quarters. It’s difficult
to keep momentum going when you have a delay like that, but player safety comes
first and the administration made a good decision. We moved the ball well at
times and had some good drives. Weeping Water has a physical football team and
gave us some problems with some of their blitzes. We worked on picking up blitzes
all week and at times we didn’t do a very good job handling the blitzes.
Our ability to throw the ball got us some key first downs and I thought our
drive at the end of the 1st half to go up 14-0 was important considering the
weather conditions. Defensively, I thought we did a decent job controlling their
running game. We knew they would make some plays. Weeping Water does a good
job spreading the field in their passing game. The Knights take on Louisville
for the District V Championship next Thursday. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in Elmwood.
